Nashville is obviously known for its great music scene with live music available at what feels like every bar and even restaurants. But I’m always surprised to hear from friends around town that they’ve never heard of an event that seems like such a staple in the Nashville community! One of my favorite events during the warm weather is Musician’s Corner in Centennial Park (yes, the one with the Parthenon).
When is Musician’s Corner?
There are 2 “seasons” for the free concert series – one in the Spring (May/June) and a Fall session in September. The shows are typically Friday from 5-9pm and Saturday from 12-6pm – rain or shine! However, they also have some Sunday dates during holiday weekends, and they typically host the Nashville Symphony on a Thursday during the Spring session.
Where is Musician’s Corner Located in the Park?
Centennial is a pretty big park. So where are they setting up a stage? I think the best way to describe the location is right next to McDonald’s on West End & 27th. It’s on the southwest corner of the park for our true navigators out there.
Where to Park Your Car
There is street parking around Centennial Park, as well as actual lots for Centennial Park closer to the Parthenon and in various spots around the park, so driving is possible, but you will have to walk a little ways. Also, there are some areas known for parking in the grass, if you see a lot of other cars doing it, it’s probably okay (specifically by the Parthenon).
The Music
Everyone is great in Nashville. The music tends to skew a little towards folk in my opinion, but there are great artists from all different genres that also perform at the event. And every day is different! The line-up is scheduled in advance, so you could look artists up if you wanted to know what suits your vibe.
What Ages Attend?
The event is great for all ages – I love seeing the mix of families, elderly folk, and young adults. And don’t forget the dogs! Kids often run to the stage and dance around in the grass, but they also have a kids area, called Kidsville, with games and things.
Is There Alcohol?
If you’re a little bit older, you might be more interested in the MC Pub, which has a pretty decent selection of wine (red, white, or rose), canned beer, and mixed cocktails! *No outside alcohol.*
Food Trucks!
My favorite part though of Musician’s Corner though might be the food trucks! And the Musician’s Corner website does a great job of updating it to let you know which trucks are planning to be there, which I think is really nice for planning purposes. There’s always a wide variety and good selection of trucks so you won’t be disappointed.
Some of my favorites are the Chivanda, Cousins Lobster, Panini’s & More, Retro Sno for dessert (you have to get the ice cream scoop in the middle!), The Grilled Cheeserie, Chang Kham Asian Fusion, but there are a lot of other great options – including Daddy’s Dogs!
What to Bring?
While there is limited seating – in the form of cement benches – I’d recommend bringing a picnic blanket or lawn chairs so you can easily pick out a spot to sit. You’re also welcome to bring in food and non-alcoholic beverages. Also worth noting is that there is light security at the entrances that will check bags and blankets.
Final Thoughts
If you have any more questions or want even more information about the event – I’d suggest going to the Musician’s Corner website. They have an incredible website with a ton of detail and FAQ’s. Also, don’t forget to stop by their Merch table for a cool Musician’s Corner or Centennial Park t-shirt!
