If you’re like me and love romance books, then you also love romance and rom-com movies! I try to watch all of the new ones that come out on the streaming platforms like Netflix and Prime, even the ones where the language is dubbed over. A lot of these are actually based on books, and some are super popular franchises. I’ve put together a list of movies I’ve enjoyed, and I think you will too!
Netflix
The After Series
Arguably, one of the most popular romance book series to movie adaptations, After is great if you want to watch an angsty, toxic romance with a brooding British “hero” and a normal college heroine.
The Perfect Find
Gabrielle Union’s character falling in love with her boss’s son? Yes, of course.
Can You Keep a Secret?
Based on Sophie Kinsella’s novel of the same name, what happens when you accidentally tell all of your secrets to your new CEO on a plane then see him at work.
Set It Up
If your boss is working you too many hours, plot to set them up with your rival assistant’s boss, and then fall in love too.
The Kissing Booth
Another extremely popular romance book franchise, but this time, it’s wholesome. Coming-of-age, falling in love, it’s sweet.
Purple Hearts
So popular, they’re making a sequel! A free spirit singer marries a Marine for the free healthcare and benefits. Opposites do attract.
365 Days
By far the spiciest series on the list, 365 Days is steamy page to steamy scene. If you’re looking for mafia spice, this one is for you.
Beyond the Universe
Unfortunately, she’s waiting for a kidney transplant. But, she falls in love with her doctor. She also plays the piano, like really well.
Along For The Ride
Sarah Dessen. Where my love for romance started. I was so excited for this movie to come out, and it didn’t disappoint. Another wholesome watch.
Pride & Prejudice
The jokes about Pride & Prejudice and millennial women can fuck right off. Everyone loves Pride & Prejudice. The hand flex – most ardently, I love it, and I will not apologize.
Love, Guaranteed
He sues the dating app company for not finding love, but falls in love with his lawyer in the process.
Holidate
Obviously perfect for the holidays, I watched this multiple times when it was released. Falling in love with your fake date for holidays? Perfect for me.
Do revenge
While this isn’t exactly a romance, if you loved Cruel Intentions growing up, Do Revenge might just pique your curiosity.
Warm Bodies
Warm Bodies has a special place in my heart. The cutest love story about a zombie falling in love with a human in an apocalyptic world.
The Bounty Hunter
I didn’t realize at the time, but The Bounty Hunter is literally enemies-to-lovers, forced proximity, etc. And Jennifer Aniston can do no wrong. An oldie but goodie.
Amazon Prime
My Fault
OMG! If you watch one movie on this list, please watch this one. Enemies-to-lovers with her new stepbrother. Illegal car racing. This movie has it all. Literally a dark romance book on screen.
The Lost City
This is romance book inception. Sandra Bullock’s character is a romance novelist, and she has to escape a kidnapping with help from her hot Fabio inspired cover model (Channing Tatum).
Finding You
I think we all dream of a small town abroad meet cute and the following romance with a “heartthrob” celebrity.
Red, White, & Royal Blue
If you haven’t heard of this book and now movie, you’ve been living under a rock. It’s every bit as cute and good as you would think. The President’s son and the Prince of England fall in love!
Something From Tiffany’s
Maybe your jewelry getting mixed up from Tiffany’s is the best thing that ever happened to you.
Hulu
Beautiful Disaster
While I’m upset with some of the creative changes in the movie version, I’d still recommend Beautiful Disaster to any toxic, college romance lovers. He does underground fighting for money; she’s now a serious student and former poker prodigy.
Farewell Thoughts
Let me know if you’ve watched or want to watch any of these movies – in the comments or over on Instagram! If you liked this list of movies to watch if you love romance books, I’d love for you to share this post!
