This is a bit of a later post because I actually went to Liquor Lab in October during their Halloween-inspired drinks, but it’s never too late to share a fun activity in Nashville! Whether you’re a local looking for a fun date idea or a birthday group event, or a visitor looking to make some nice craft cocktails before hitting the town, Liquor Lab is a great and interactive experience that’ll teach you a thing or two about making cocktails the right way.
Booking Tickets & Cost
Times and tickets can easily be purchased online at their website! The cost for the 90-minute class with 3 cocktails was $75, which is what we chose! But they also have a “happy hour” class that is 1 hour with 2 drinks for $55.
Getting to Liquor Lab Nashville – it’s a little tricky!
Liquor Lab Nashville is off Broadway on 2nd Avenue downtown. Your best bet is to Uber there, especially if you’re drinking. Otherwise, the Library Garage isn’t too far of a walk for some cheaper downtown parking.
Finding the exact location was actually a bit tricky. 2nd Ave has been under construction for quite some time as it’s where the Nashville Christmas bombing was at a few years ago. So, there could be street barriers and things like that but it’s getting better all the time.
Liquor Lab is in the basement of a building, pretty much directly across from Commerce Street, but it looks like the lobby of an office or apartment building, and you shouldn’t go in. But trust me, if you peak in the windowed door, you’ll see a lit stairwell that goes downstairs and that’s how you get to Liquor Lab!
Liquor Lab Nashville Experience
After getting checked-in, we were directed to one of their “labs” where we waited for class to start. They have multiple rooms, and it would definitely be a great place to host a birthday or work event.
The Lab is set up with your own little cocktail making station and everything you’ll need for the class – shakers, bitters, juices, alcohols, stir stick, garnishes, etc. They also have a little charcuterie station if you want a snack – and after 3 drinks, you might just need it!
We had an amazing bartender for our teacher – he was helpful and fun. I learned a lot in the class! I think my biggest takeaways were how to correctly “shake” a drink – it’s all in the elbow, how to get the pint glass unstuck from the tin shaker, and how to use the Hawthorne bar strainer which made me feel like a real bartender!!
We made our 3 drinks – which included a gin, whiskey, and rum drink. Since it was “Spooky Spirits” for Halloween, all of our drinks were scary movie themed. I’ll share some more photos below!
Overall, the class was super fun, and the drinks were hitting us by the end! It was a fun experience – I took my friend who was visiting me from out of town and another local friend! Our bartender gave great instructions and tips, and the recipes were easy to follow, but were intricate enough that you didn’t feel like you’d easily make these at home. I’d highly recommend Liquor Lab as a fun pre-night out activity for visitors and locals alike!
