My Blurb for The Casanova
At the behest of Kate’s friend, she joins a dating app. But she does it in the most ridiculous way possible – with a fake name and an outlandish bio. And someone actually bites on her profile – Edgar – who Kate starts a fun messaging relationship with.
And in real-life, Kate has Elliot Miles to deal with. He’s her billionaire boss – in charge of the London office of the Miles’ family company, Miles Media. She loves nothing more than to annoy him. And weirdly enough, he’s starting to show interest in her, and Kate doesn’t hate it… but she’s got a sneaking suspicion that her online crush might just be her real-life boss.
My Thoughts on The Casanova
Another free Kindle Unlimited Audible book for me. Check out my full list here!
I’ve heard complaints about the female narrator, but I had no problem with her accent, and it being possibly “fake.” Even though this book was based in London, I absolutely would not have read her with a British accent in my mind, so I thought it was kind of nice to have that in the audiobook.
This book had the fun 2 storylines going. One where the main characters are attracted in real-life, and one where they are unknowingly chatting anonymously from a dating app and spilling so many secrets – although less from Kate because she knows it’s Elliot pretty early on. I liked seeing their relationships develop over both platforms, but I did think the online portion kind of ran its course after a while.
There are also some side plots like Elliot chasing down all the artwork from his favorite artist, and Kate dealing with her siblings and the estate of her parents. And Kate’s new roommate/friend literally came waltzing in like the biggest red flag. I knew he was trouble when he walked in. LITERALLY.
I hated the literal 85% in “third act conflict.” Are you kidding me? Obviously, I won’t be spoiling, but if you hate third act conflicts, then you will hate this book. It actually made me question if we were getting a happily-ever-after, because I would not have put up with it. It was partly an exciting twist, but I think it could have been executed better without us, as readers, kind of hating the hero.
Overall, I would pick this book up if you like T L Swan and her Miles High Club series. Especially if you have Kindle Unlimited and are looking for a free audiobook. If you hate third act conflict, stay away from this book. If you like billionaire, workplace romance, then this could be a fun read for you!
