Vampire books will always be a favorite of mine. There’s something inherently sexy and fun about them. I’ve brainstormed the best vampire book series I’ve read to share with you. And no, Twilight didn’t make the list (but yes, I read and watched and love them, and still do). So, in no particular order, here are some of my best vampire book series recommendations!
1. From Blood and Ash Series
Would any list about the best vampire book series be complete without the surprising vampire-esque series that took the book world by storm? I don’t even think I need to talk about this one. You just need to read it if you haven’t. For my non-spoiler review, you can read that here. For my full recap summary of book 1, you can read that here!

2. True Blood
The Southern Vampire Mysteries aka The Sookie Stackhouse Novels aka True Blood. Bit of an identity crisis here but I loved this series nonetheless. True Blood was one of the first vampire series I read, and to be clear, I’m team Eric always. I enjoyed that these books had it all – romance, mystery/detective work, and paranormal characters. While the series has been over since 2012, I’d still recommend it! And then watch the HBO series.

3. Vampire Academy Series
Okay, if you saw the Vampire Academy movie without reading the book, you probably thought the series sucked (get it? Ha.). Though the movie does have a special place in my heart, it wasn’t great, but this was actually a great book series.

4. Bloodlines Series
This was the spin-off of Vampire Academy that features more of the vampire, Adrian. As much as I loved the original series, I might have liked this one even more. The writing seemed elevated. The characters had more depth to me, and overall, it worked well! Plus, we got the forbidden love element. Love that.

5. Supernatural Battle: Vampire Towers Series
This book series caught me off guard! It was so good and so different! I was obsessed with these books when they came out. It’s basically vampires fighting over territory but using a giant game of monopoly to do it. A human girl ends twisted up in the game and of course, she’s falling in love with the main vampire. Swoon. Also, if this territory game sounds interesting, I wrote a review on a wolf series like this by the same author!

6. Vampires Mage
This books is a little different. The main characters aren’t vampires. They are just mages that are connected to a vampire city and its’ king, but they kind of do their own thing. If you like witches and magic, demons, and vampires, this book might be for you!

7. The Royal Trials
The Selection Series meets vampires. Oh, and reverse harem trope as well – which I don’t love, but it wasn’t bad in this book. Rybet tries to sneak into the castle to rescue her friend. She gets caught and must play along in their deadly Royal Trials. There are 3 princes, and why does she have to choose?
That said, some people say the books cause them too much déjà vu from the Selection Series and Throne of Glass Series, which is fair. I think it’s still a fun read to pass time.

8. Blood Alliance
This is a vampire and wolf series (lycans) that’s more on the dark side. Humans are no longer in control – the vampires and lycans have taken over and have made humans their playthings and food.
Of course, the supernatural daddies fall in love with their prey, but there are also politics and intrigue; it’s the bigger picture and plot throughout the series. Maybe everyone doesn’t want humans to be treated so poorly…
Lexi C. Foss knows how to make a great supernatural series, so don’t miss out on her as an author!

2023 Updates
The Serpent & The Wings of Night (Crowns of Nyaxia)
Quickly becoming one of my favorite reads of 2023, I loved the vampires in the Crowns of Nyaxia duology. If you’re looking for a full spoiler-free mini review, you can check that out here!
Oraya lives in a vampire-dominated world, where she’s been adopted by the Nightlord vampire king. She joins a competition to hopefully win a wish by the goddess Nyaxia to change her life and the fragility of being human in a vampire world.
In the competition, she aligns herself with a vampire named Raihn. But in a competition where only 1 can win, how much can she trust him?
Let me know if you read any of these books – in the comments or over on Instagram! If you enjoyed my best vampire book series, I’d love for you to share this post!
